Social media has become a major part of how people discover new products, services, and ideas. While I don’t spend a lot of time following influencers, there is one person I regularly listen to: Joe Rogan. What I enjoy most about his podcast is the wide variety of guests and topics he covers. From scientists and business leaders to athletes and comedians, each episode offers a different perspective and often introduces me to ideas or subjects I would not have explored otherwise. Outside of that, I don’t spend much time following influencers on social media. Instead, I usually listen to local news radio to stay informed about current events, weather, and what’s happening in my community.
From a marketing perspective, influencers can have a significant impact on consumer behavior because people often trust recommendations from someone they follow. When an influencer shares authentic experiences and provides honest opinions, it helps build credibility and stronger relationships with their audience. That is one reason Joe Rogan has built such a large following—people tune in for genuine conversations rather than scripted advertisements. At the same time, I think consumers are becoming more aware of sponsored content, so authenticity is more important than ever. Companies that choose influencers who genuinely align with their brand and values are more likely to build trust and long-term relationships with customers than those that simply focus on reaching the largest audience.
