When I reviewed Whirlpool’s “Every day, care” campaign, I noticed that the company focused less on selling appliances and more on connecting with people emotionally. Instead of talking only about washing machines and refrigerators, Whirlpool encouraged customers to share stories about how everyday household chores showed love and care for their families. This changed the conversation from products to people and helped customers see the brand in a different way.
Whirlpool successfully met the wants and needs of its target audience by recognizing that many people feel household chores are repetitive and often go unnoticed. The company reminded customers that these everyday tasks have an important purpose because they help care for the people they love. Whirlpool invited customers to share their own stories, photos, and videos, making them part of the campaign instead of simply advertising to them. As a result, the campaign generated thousands of authentic customer stories and increased both customer engagement and sales (Shorty Awards, n.d.).
The social and consumer experience was handled very well because Whirlpool encouraged two-way communication. Rather than asking customers to simply like or share advertisements, the company invited them to participate by telling their own stories. These stories were shared on a dedicated website and across social media platforms, helping customers feel valued and heard. This type of user-generated content also made the campaign feel more authentic because the stories came from real people instead of paid advertisements.
Whirlpool also did a good job managing its digital media followers. The company created a community where customers could engage with one another and with the brand. By highlighting customer stories across its website, Facebook, and other digital channels, Whirlpool rewarded participation and encouraged even more people to join the conversation. This helped build trust because customers could see real experiences from other families rather than only traditional marketing messages.
One improvement Whirlpool could have made would have been to continue encouraging customer participation after the campaign ended through additional contests, seasonal challenges, or regular community spotlights. Maintaining this level of engagement year-round could help strengthen long-term customer relationships and keep the brand at the center of conversations about family and home care.
Today, Whirlpool continues to use its website and social media platforms effectively. Its website provides product information, customer support, buying guides, and tips for appliance care. On Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, Whirlpool shares home organization ideas, product demonstrations, cleaning tips, and customer-focused content. These posts continue to emphasize helping families instead of simply promoting products.
Ethical engagement is another strength of Whirlpool’s digital marketing. The company encourages honest customer stories rather than misleading advertising and focuses on building relationships through authenticity and transparency. By creating meaningful conversations and highlighting real experiences, Whirlpool demonstrates how digital media can be used to build trust while meeting customer needs. Overall, the “Every day, care” campaign shows that successful digital marketing is not only about selling products but also about creating lasting relationships with customers.
